Venezuela + KiteSurfing = Love

Venezuela is a country on the northern coast of South America with diverse natural attractions. Along its Caribbean coast are tropical resort islands including Isla de Margarita and the Los Roques archipelago. To the northwest are the Andes Mountains and the colonial town of Mérida, a base for visiting Sierra Nevada National Park, and to the north you can find  Caracas, the capital.

Even though Venezuela is not the ideal place to be as a tourist right now (economy is in free-fall, frequent power cuts, food and medicine shortages, high criminality, etc) it seems it’s the perfect place to be if you’re a kitesurfer (and not only), with enough courage and money to hit it off.

That’s the case of Jerome Cloetens and Liam Whaley. Although everybody told them not to, they went anyway.

“At the start of this year Liam Whaley and I travelled to Venezuela. Our goal was to show the beauty of the country and the good vibes that it has despite all of the political injustice that is going on.”
